Dr. Mona Venzon Rice is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in child and adolescent psychiatry. She specializes in the evaluation and treatment of anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, depression, mania, attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder, autism spectrum and other psychiatric conditions.
She completed her psychiatry residency in 2004 and her child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship in 2006 at the Brody School of Medicine in East Carolina University. Dr. Rice had an outpatient practice in the San Francisco Bay area for 5 years before moving to Western North Carolina where she has been treating children and adolescents since 2012. Aside from her outpatient private practice, she also serves as consulting psychiatrist in an adolescent residential treatment program and a young adult transitional living program in the area.
Dr. Rice strives to use a reasonable amount of medications to enhance functioning while minimizing adverse effects. She provides medical treatment, psychoeducation and referrals, using a collaborative decision-making approach.
